How do I get to Mykonos?

Ferry Boats from Athens to Mykonos

You can get from Athens to Mykonos by ferry or plane and below you will find some additional information to help you choose the way of traveling that suits you the most.

The ferry route from Athens to Mykonos is among the most popular in Greece, along with the Athens Santorini route.

Daily ferry crossings from Athens ports (Piraeus & Rafina) to Mykonos Port are available at any time of the year, connecting the two destinations. There are more ferry crossings per day during the high season and high-speed vessels are available from spring to autumn as well.
The companies which operate this route are Blue Star FerriesGolden Star FerriesHellenic Seaways, and SeaJets and the travel is between 2h 30m and 5h 30m.

The ferry ticket prices are fixed, although they may vary from €30 to €90, depending on the vessel type and which class you choose (i.e. economy, business, and VIP).

Most ferries depart from Piraeus Port but a more convenient option for those who have just landed at the airport would be Rafina Port. This route is operated by Fast FerriesBlue Star FerriesGolden Star Ferries, and SeaJets.
Book your ferry tickets from Athens to Mykonos in advance.

Flights from Athens to Mykonos

Multiple flights per day and more specifically, every few hours, will allow you to easily travel from Athens to Mykonos and vice versa during the summer.
You can also expect to find several flight connections per week during the off-season months, although they are less frequent then.
A flight from Athens International Airport to Mykonos Airport is expected to last approximately half an hour and the companies which operate this route are Aegean AirlinesOlympic AirSky Express, and Volotea.

It is important to book your tickets as many months in advance as possible, not only to get a better price (one-way tickets start from as little as €40 if you book soon enough) but also because flights to Mykonos tend to sell out quite easily, especially during the summer season.

Pros of getting to Mykonos by flight: Traveling by airplane is the fastest way to reach Mykonos and if you book your flight several months in advance, it will not be much more expensive than traveling by ferry. In addition, keep in mind that a flight is usually on time and not subject to delays, unlike ferries, which can also get affected by the weather.

Yes airport transfers are included.

It is best to get travel insurance in case of any unforeseen circumstances, but it is not necessary.

This would be a personal preference.
